About
The North Carolina Society for Students with Disabilities is first and foremost, a community effort advocating for disabled students in NC. The Society aims to create a database with relevant, accurate information regarding the policies that affect disabled students, best practices in inclusive education, and how to navigate the special education system in NC.

The idea to begin the NCSSD was primarily born out of a high school club called the Disability Advocacy Student Alliance (DASA). As executive members of DASA, board members of the NCSSD have presented at educational conferences in NC, speaking about educational inequity and disability justice. The NCSSD remains committed to providing a platform for disabled student leaders to advocate for themselves and prioritizes being led by a diverse group of current students.

We believe every disabled student should be equipped with the support to flourish to their full potential.
Our Mission Statement:
At the North Carolina Society for Students with Disabilities, we are committed to providing free, high-quality resources that improve educational outcomes for disabled students. The NCSSD is committed to advocating for policy that directly improves the lives of disabled students and their communities in North Carolina.
